For this reason, today we are especially happy and proud to announce that we have recently joined the Alliance for Childhood Vaccination, an initiative that emerged 15 years ago thanks to the collaboration between the “la Caixa” Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, with the participation of ISGlobal as a scientific and academic partner. This alliance was born with the intention of giving Spanish companies the opportunity to collaborate in a cooperation project aimed at combating infant mortality in developing countries with difficulties in accessing universal medical care.
Since its creation, the Childhood Vaccination Alliance has helped immunize almost 9 million children under 5 years of age in the 73 most disadvantaged countries in the world, giving them a hopeful future. This year the Alliance hopes to significantly expand these figures thanks to the collaboration of companies, entities, and also CaixaBank employees and those supportive people who decide to help protect the health of the little ones through microdonations. Furthermore, the ”la Caixa” Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation maintain their commitment to multiply by four each donation received – up to 2 million euros –, thereby redoubling everyone’s efforts to ensure the health and growth of the children.
On this occasion, our financial contribution will be allocated to the distribution of vaccines in Mozambique and Ethiopia, with the aim of preventing pneumonia, the main cause of child mortality from infectious diseases worldwide.
